Will builders sand (Not sharp sand) help in a clay soil, or would I just be wasting my time? I've just a bought a bulk pack and will have quite a bit left over so wondered if it could be used in the soil.

    Many thanks!

Sadly, if it is soft sand then it is of little use in soil conditioning. It has small grains which are designed to pack down tightly so making a solid mass. Also much sand of this type contains salt which would definitely not be good for any plants. Small quantities well mixed would do little harm, but large amounts are not good, sorry.

Thanks Palustris and dont be sorry, It might have caused me more problems than I was trying to solve using this in the soil.

    Palustris is quite right
It will in fact make your clay soil more impenetrable

Steve, it is a myth that sand helps improve clay soils. What is needed is humus, and lots of it.:thumb:
