We have decided to add a pond to our garden. I'm really excited at the prospect and have chosen one of the preformed ones which was delivered today. Now we just have to dig the hole which is the difficult bit! Once it's in I can't wait to go shopping for plants both for in it and the surrounding areas. Then in a few weeks we can get some fish.
Here's a couple of before pictures with the plastic pond plonked in roughly the area it will go in!

Not quite sure what we are going to do with the surrounding area yet, but thought we'd get the hard bit done and get the pond in before we worry about that!

The pond is now in. Didn't realise quite how difficult digging the hole and getting it completely level would be though!!! Hope the neighbours weren't paying too much attention because lots of swearing went on when we thought it was ok, filled it with water and realised it wasn't quite level!!! We then had to drain all the water out and start again! Off out today to buy some plants to go around it.

    Hi Mel,

I can just imagine the language when you had to redo the pond! What a gorgeous spot you have there though, I'm quite envious.

Will take a piccie of the finished pond over the weekend. The water has cleared now and its starting to look nice. Just need to get some fish in a few weeks time now and it will be complete.

No barley straw as yet, but now you've suggested it I will look into it.
I've kept fish in tanks for years and have always wanted a pond but never had room until we moved into this house last year. I'll be in my element now!
