Hello everyone. Advice and opinions appreciated. I had 28 holly trees planted last week and the burlap was left on the rootballs. Now I’ve learned that the burlap should probably have been removed. Should I dig up the trees and remove the burlap? Or just remove the upper layer of soil and cut off the burlap as far down the sides as possible? I would prefer to leave the trees as they are. What will happen if I do? They’re english holly, some variegated, and are approx 2 metres tall. Thank you for your thoughts.

As long as the sacking is made from plant material like Sisal then it will eventually rot away, in that case you do not need to do anything other than wait.

Remember to water them regularly if nature ceases supply (I wish!). A mulch of organic material will help.
