    Hi!

Can anyone identify this butterfly? I spotted it a while back in Amsterdam Zoo but haven't got a clue what it is:

Hi Rish, yes, it is a Tiger Longwing - Heliconius hecale.
The Tiger Longwing butterfly originates from between Mexico, Cuba and the Peruvian Amazon. These pretty butterflies are pollen eaters rather than surviving on food stored from the laval stage or on flower nectar. The eating habit of the Tiger Longwing attributes to its longevity of several months.
