Today a week ago dryed the seeds of a butternut squash I had made a pot of soup with.

    Planted them on Monday.

And noticed this afternoon that they have germinated.

I must try that. I love butternut! I also love gem squash with loads of butter but I don't think that you can buy them here :( (Let me know if you know otherwise)

Thanks Kat. Sounds wonderful. Rather more interesting than a tin of Heinz tomato. :D

A good variation is to add a tin of coconut milk instead of one of the pints of stock. It gives a rich flavour and a smoother creamy texture. [IMG] [IMG]

    Hi All

Just wondering which type would be best to grow, a friend of mine has allowed me to use a part of his allotment so I will have room to grow Squash up there.

    Hi All!
If this is your first time growing squashes etc, I hope you have acres of room, as "only" one plant is capable if left unchecked to taking over the average allotment on it's own; almost!

Also don't waste time and effort on saving your own seed, (especially melons!) I have tried it and it did not work for me!

Again these are very tender plants, they stand no frost at all, so it would be the end of May before it would be safe to plant outside in most of the UK.

    TRY,(sing something simple!)

Looking good, ScotKat, but they need pricking into individual pots before they get too big.
