Hello everyone, my butternut squash is now growing I can't seem to find anything via Google and joined here today, can anyone answer me this, do I trim back some of the larger leaves to expose the squash to the sun? I did this with my pumpkins as per advice just checking I should follow the same lead with these?
    Thanks in advance.

Never grown them, but until someone else comes along, my advice, for what its worth, would be to hold off cutting leaves if the fruit are still growing.
Once the fruit reaches a size and appears to have stopped growing the ripening process can begin.

    Harvested in 2014.

No, you do not need to prune the leaves to expose the squash to sunlight.

Prune to remove damaged or diseased leaves, or to keep the vine in check.

The above came from a plant that was grown in a 14 litre bucket and left mainly to its own devices.

The plant itself was grown from collected seed (Morrisons butternut squash) so I am not sure of the exact cultivar but it was tasty nonetheless.

That looks great! This is our first year growing properly as we are lucky enough to have the space for a full sized allotment, I've not really eaten butternut squash so I'm looking forward to them being ready.

You probably won't bother growing them next year then:snork:
