Last year I grew one butternut squash plant on the end of the patch that had been prepaired for Courgettes. The plant which was not cherished, produced two squash of about 2kg each (one was a bit bigger than the other). I was impressed with the result and as I spent so much time trying to get rid of Courgettes to a good home I thought I would reduce them and plant 4 squash. If this year I love and cherish them what can I expect from a good average plant. I propose to treet like the Courgettes which have been prolific in the past.

oldwinegum, butternut squashes are delicious to eat, so if all goes very well a good home for a few surplus ones is just over the way in Cambridge. :D

    Hi oldwinegum

I've pulled up last year's topic on Butternut Squash for you to read. You'll see it as 'Butternut Squash Trials'

Thanks for that Shiney, it shows that the mods advice, to check previous posts should be followed. Sorry mod will try to do better.
Nic. You are welcome to the excess as long as Cambridgshire do not charge import tax.
