butternut squashes

    plants have only just started to flower, cannot find two different flowers, all seem female! shall i see how they go or pull up and plant something else as they are taking up quite a big bit of my patch now? and feel if they are not going to be productive its a shame to waste the space iynwim. many thanks em

    Mine have been flowering for a few weeks but the packet said they wouldn't fruit til September onwards so I've left mine.

    thanks will leave them a bit longer then but am getting bored waiting lol. also do not seem to have male and female ones ?? so may not have nay success?

    Hope you haven't dug them up yet, I spoke to my mum and she says they flower all male then all female. Mine are still merrily flowering away so fingers crossed hopefully I'll get some female ones now!

    Woohoo!!!!!

    Much excitement here, my first fruit has appeared!! It's only wee and I'm hoping it makes it to adulthood! :D

    lucky you!! mine appear to be eunuchs......am giving them one more week then thats it, i will compost the lot and grow pumpkins next year!
