buying Seeds for tropical plants?

I'm looking for UK tropical seed companies .I have Chilterns and Plant World , are their any others that members can recommend please .?

 

Worldwide seeds. The internet has a few recommendations.

 

I use PlantGenesis Home and Premier Seeds Direct – Grow The Best
and there are so many on Amazon..

 

Tropical and Traditional Flower and Vegetable Seeds from JungleSeeds

 

Ive used these and had good germination. Some may be ebay sellers

Thank you to everyone who recommends the above seed companies. I've spent quite a while deciding which to order.
I love experimenting so I could end up ordering from each one!!!!!

Please keep your recommendations coming in .........you can't have too many (well I can't ,! It's something which I cannot have too many when it comes to seed!!!!!

 

Any idea what you're looking for? Maybe a certain part of the world, maybe certain families etc. If I'm after Australian seeds then I use Ozzy seed companies, like for South African seeds. Asian seeds are harder to find reliable sellers for, likewise South American seeds.

 

As @longk suggests, there are some tempting foreign seed companies, like Nindethana in Oz, and Silverhill seeds in South Africa (if they have continued since their tragic loss). They will send seeds to UK. Also if you are interested in particular sorts of plants, joining a society will give you access to their seed distribution.

But the OP put me off, only asking for UK seed companies, often if you buy from the country concerned the seed is hopefully fresher.

Actually to be honest id not thought of buying seeds from abroard. But it does sound intresting and I'm eager to give it a go .thank you longk &Co. I now going to check them out !

I've bought seed over the last few weeks from several of the
recommend companies.Some are already seedlings and others are showing signs of germinating over the next few days (hoping) The others intrest me too and I'm quickly getting a list together

I would go for seedsmen in this country, as number one choice.

Reason. If buying from vendors in the plant's natural home. Then the seed basically has remained the same, despite any obvious propagating and cultivation. So the seed will still have more or less it's natural code of preferences.

Whereas. Seed saved etc from British grown stock, such seed will now contain various traights that it has picked up along the way, also new cultivars may well have introduced the seed to the British climate and conditions.
