buzy lizzie

    i can only put flowers in garden pots around my lawn as i have no boarder, i normaly put in impatiants busy lizzes when they come out, because my wife thinks they have some lovly colour, could some one tell me what else i could put in these pots thats gives off alot of colour and even some fragant for a change, the size of pots i use is, 2ft long & 8" round pots, it would be nice to see a change of flowers, please help

    you could use something like a fuchsia in the centre of the round pot, with trailing aubretia round it. 8" isn't very big, but if you use anything with a tallish stem, you can put traily things around it - but you need to feed and water well.
    For the trough type, how about a tallish plant in the centre back, even a small evergreen, like a euonymus or small hebe, with a mixture of verbena or lobelia (for trailing)and cineraria for silvery foliage?

    If you have a look through any of the web-sites for plants, like http://www.thompson-morgan.com/ and http://www.suttons-seeds.co.uk/, they'll give you some ideas.
