I so WISH I'd had a camera with a big zoom on it about an hour ago. Me and hubby went out in the car and were going up the main road behind our house, when I saw 3 "lumps" in the field beside us. I looked close and I saw a crow stood to the left and a buzzard in the middle who was ripping a rabbit (I presume) to pieces and another buzzard on the right, who was waiting patiently like the crow!!

I was amazed and excited (still am). :yess: We've been seeing Buzzards over the fields behind our house for a couple of years now. When we went to Stonham Barns this year, they showed a buzzard and said that a colony had been re-introduced into Norfolk, so that must be where they're coming from.

I'm sorry I have no pic for you, but I wanted to share and I thought it was weird behaviour for a crow to be there waiting for titbits :heehee:

      Cheers for sharing,

We've got hundreds of Buzzards down here, the crows will mob them in the air, guess they are a little more nervous at ground level.

Came round a corner yesterday & saw 4 crows (2 fledglings) standing over a dead rabbit discussing what to do about it. No pecking just talking about it.

We dont get buzzards around this area, I dont think.:)

But one was spotted recently, high up, being harassed by gulls.
So maybe they are moving into the south east slowly.

We get quite a lot of Buzzards around these parts. When the farmer crops the hay in the fields behind us, the Buzzards circle patiently waiting for any small animal to break cover, then pounce...
Hopefully this year I'll have the camera and zoomie ready for action.. :D

And those bleeding crows! Every time I fill the bird feeders with peanuts or put out fat balls, they go crazy, only stopping once the nuts and fat have been devoured. Then they disappear until I refill them!

I can just see the local paper headlines...
"How to keep your nuts safe from marauding craws" ...

Only ever had a woody in the garden once :D, lots of doves though along with the usual garden birdies (and sometimes a couple of Grey Herons)
