cabbage leaves as big as kites !!!

Hi everyone, ive got a new problem. All my cabbage plants have gone mad and the leaves are as big as kites ! theres very little central growth, just great big leaves. My cauliflower are in a similar condition. Any ideas ?

I would say they were overdosing on nitrogen, Iggy. Any chance of some photo`s so we can actually see the problem?

I think, going by the leaf colour, that is to much nitrogen. I would suggest getting an NPK test kit and testing the soil. You can, of course, still eat them.:D

 

Thanks Dai, will they eventually resemble a cabbage or will they be big green leaves that taste of cabbage !!!?

 

What variety are they?

 

They are winter cabbage

 

They should heart up, Iggy. Plenty of time yet, but I would still test the soil.
