I planted some Greyhound cabbage seeds and when they were big enough put them in a cage on the allotment but now they seem rather large and do not appear to be getting much of a head. This variety is the pointed variety spring cabbage but not sure how big they grow as have only seen them in supermarkets and the outside leaves may have been removed. Can enclose a photo if that helps.

I grow greyhound and as you say they are usually quite compact. A photo may be helpful.

I think that they need thining out, so they have more room. Thin every other one and use them for a meal.:doggieshmooze:

They are doing well, I tend to think.
I think of Greyhound as a summer cabbage, so plenty of time to heart up.
Look like they have an abundance of nitrogen at the moment so dont do any feeding.

I have replanted seven plants in another area which gives the remaining ones more room and hope that the ones I moved will be ok.I took a big root ball with each one so hopefully they will take.

I always give brassicas a good helping of chicken manure pellets when preparing the ground and another feed with the same about half way through.
