Hi folks. This year and last I've grown Greyhound. Although they grow to a good size, I find they lack flavour. So, what cabbages do you grow and are you happy with them ?
    Cheers...freddy.

Freddy, I grow Offenham 2, Flower of Spring. It is a loose-leafed, spring green variety, nice and tasty, and I grow 2 crops a year. One sown in March which is ready to eat now, and I will sow another batch in a couple of weeks for overwintering.

Hi Blackthorn. I grew those too as a spring cabbage, I didn't know that they could be grown as a summer cabbage, interesting.

I have Greyhound this year... but they have all started splitting, and or rotting in this wet weather.

I also have April, a spring cabbage, sown in March... which are doing far better.

I grow both Hipsi and Greyhound every year, and have had lots of each so far this season.
As far as I am concerned they both are marvellous.
Only thing, Hipsi costs about ten times the price of each seed that Greyhound does.
My boys eat both, try getting them to eat any other cooked vegetable, you would think that we were trying to poison them!

Does anyone have any idea the variety of the so called "Sweetheart" cabbages the supermarkets sell?

Now that name is a marketing mans dream!

    Cheers

I grow April overwinter some years as well as Flower of Spring.

I always find they bolt as soon as the weather warms up!
