Cacti help please

    Hi, can anyone help out on the following please,

    1) I have a cacti that seems to be growing tentacles fir some reason from its shoots, the flower head has long since died, can someone advise me on what I should do file (sam_0895, 896 & 897.jpg

    2 I also have a Hawortha, which the flowing stem has going quite long I was wonder if it is ofk to cut this back, see file sam_0891

    3) can someone tell me what the black spots are on the cacti in file sam_0890.

    Looking at the pics Duffy, you appear to have "grafted" cacti, ie, a specific cacti has been grafted onto a rootstock, I suggest it was not a flower.

    In pics one and two I would guess the grafted plant has died and the shoots are from the rootstock, in pic three we have one of those shoots growing aerial roots, some cacti do that, but again I'm suggesting its the rootstock.

    You can cut back the flowering stem on the haworthia, the flowers are not very impressive.

    Pic five is of another grafted cacti, it appears to be going the same way as the other one I'm afraid the grafted bit is probably dieing.

    Grafted cacti tend not to be long lived as the graft cannot survive on its own, which is why they are grafted.
