Cactus flowers

    It was several years ago that one of my cactii decided to flower.
    It was before I had a digital camera so these following pictures are snapshots from a video.
    I seem to recall it really opened out at night as you can see in the one picture taken with a torch, and the whole event was over very quickly.
    I have no idea what it is, and sadly it has never repeated this amazing show.

    Looks like an echinopsis of some kind Robert.

    Nice flower colour.:gnthb:

    Fairly cool dry winters and good light all year is the best way to get flowers.

    Echinopsis is one of the cacti that can take some shade in summer, when reasonable amounts of water should be given if the temperature is high.

    It is one of the easiest to flower, so keep trying to get some more.:)

    Thanks for that info pete.
    All those plants are still in the same pot and have been for many, many years. I keep meaning to repot them. Im sure that will give them a fighting chance.. It always lives in the unheated conservatory and gets negleted a great deal.

    Yep, repot them singly, otherwise carry on with the neglect.

    I'm sure they will respond.
