Anyone able to ID this Cactus? Salvaged it from getting shredded into a compost heap and got it to root. Originally had it planted in a sheltered part of the garden but snails took a liking to it. Now in a pot and kept in a cold frame over winter.
I know cacti id can be a bit tricky but any suspicions would be appreciated.

    Many Thanks

Possibly a cereus of some kind, but it would probably be easier to come up with a list of what it isn't, unless someone recognises it.

Pilocereus? P Azureus? (Cactus ID is great as nobody can confidently say one is wrong  )

A great looking plant, what a marvellous find! :dbgrtmb:

Actually looks more like an Epiphyllum of some kind.

Wow, that is stunning @redstar !

Agree with @pete, the flower looks more like a leafy cactus flower than of Cereus which I think stick closer to the stem . Can you please post a photo of the plant?

Anyways, what a treat to have a flower like that, it's wonderful! From the photos I can see it opens at night, personally I think it adds to the thrill to see a bud starting to swell towards the evening and then watching the flower slowly opening when the night falls :)

@Selleri , here is the pic. its the most goofy looking plant to me, as you can see I have a soft ribbon tied to it to support it. Down at the bottom some of the leafs have this crusty brown stuff. One smaller one shriveled off. I had watered it well about 25 days ago, then we went away for 20 days, when we returned I gave it some water. I think it likes neglect some, and as a member of the cacti family, I let it dry out between. It was a gift from a friend who told me the name. And there is a wee little bud starting again, top left area. So another flower soon. Cereus Plant.jpg

            That's definitely an Epiphyllum.

The flower is very similar to that of Selenicereus (although not exactly the same) so maybe easy to mix the two, but the stems are those of an Epiphyllum.

A weird and wonderful plant, I wonder what exact species it might be?

Totally agree with the scent of some cactus flowers, I have a Fishbone Epiphyllum that bears flowers with an incredible vanilla- citrus like scent. Lovely :)

Through the window you can see one of the flower beds, its ready for sleep soon. The blob of pink are fall anemonies. The shrub you see through the top half of the window is my hydranga tree.

To my mind it looks like a very badly abused
Trichocereus terscheckii. It’s had its growing point chopped off so many times it took on that butchered look.
If you take an arm off and let it dry out for a while,( a couple of weeks) stick it in a sandy, stoney cactus mix and it should take off. Which is probably what the main plant was used for.
