This plant was grown from seed. It was kind of a chore, but it was worth the effort.

It is a hybrid variety called Valentine. Most calceolaria are yellow.

I took a cutting from a flowering lateral and it too flowered in about thirty days. I think I can see an ugly face in the photo. My wife thinks I am bonkers.

"What are the round things in the pot? "

They are expanded clay pellets. The plant was grown hydroponically in an ebb and flow system using a LED grow light.

I've always loved this, bought some seeds two weeks ago from Thomson and Morgan and I sowed them on Sunday. One has already germinated! Theyre on my windowsill in a propogator. The seeds were like red dust!
