california glory flower bud drops before opening

I live in the U K I have a California Glory shrub it is fed about every 2 to 3 weeks and is watered for about 5 minutes a day on an automatic watering system The shrub grows an abundance of buds in the growing season but before they open they drop Can someone advise what might be the problem please

if so I hope your not watering it now, and its unlikely its ever going to want watering or feeding in the UK.
As to bud drop, I'm not sure.

But ease up on the feeding and watering, it might just be getting too much.

 

It sounds like your spoiling it with too much care... treat it rough... California is hot and dry and barren (on the whole)... not wet and fertile!
