Hi, I thought Pete may be able to help, but any/all suggestions welcome.........

We have grown a Passiflora Quadrangularis from seed. We're growing it in the living room as we don't have a 'proper' greenhouse or conservatory. It has grown to 7.5ft since it germinated in Spring, and is going from strength to strength! It's getting a bit big for the living room!
I suggested cutting it down, and promoting more bushy growth, and investing in some sort of trellis. But Mr Mac is reluctant to give it the snip.I don't beleive it will survive outdoors.

    What would you do??

    It definitly wont survive outdoors.
Having never managed to germinate one, let alone try growing it in the living room, I find it difficult to come up with any ideas.
I guess you could cut it back a bit, but I dont think it will get bushy.
Can you not twine the stem round and around, to give a less straggly effect.
I would imagine its probably not getting enough light really. [IMG]

    Thanks for the reply Pete,
You've confirmed my suspisions about growing it outdoors.
It's growing up a stake. Mr Mac is trying to grow it back down again by manipulating the tendrils! I guess you're right, we'll have to just keep wrapping it around itself. Or put a hole in the ceiling for it!
Forgot to mention, we've got a UV light on it a couple of hours a day.
Incidentally, following our sucess, I recently bought Mr Mac some more seeds.....
    passiflora alata
    passiflora bellotti
    passiflora ligularis
    passiflora mollissima

:D I know! I've been looking through all the other seeds I've collected this year too and told Mr Mac we're definately going to need to do something! We only have a town garden, and not enough room for a green house! [IMG]
