Callistemon Splendens

Morrison's are selling these for £15. Would it survive in a pot? How hardy is it? Would it survive an average winter outdoors? If I bought one I would consider standing it on the porch of my summer house. How big would it be expected to grow? Any help would be appreciated.

Yes they will grow in containers but spacious ones. However, for me it is best planted in the garden
Hardy? They are here ...large specimens seen everywhere. Not one here right now though but it is a plant I intend to grow. I think it may be hardier than usually supposed.....will be interesting to read what others say who live in frostier places
It will need warmth, good drainage and protection from sharp frosts....a fleece at such times is needed. Could it be taken into the summer house at times Gary?

 

I've grown it years ago, but only on the house wall, its one of the more tender Callistemons I think you will find.
I dont think it stands much chance of surviving a winter in Peterborough in a pot especially.
There are hardier species than splendens, which I have.
@strongylodon is pretty well up on the hardiness of these.
