dear oh dear ..what is your view on this i have been reading and and now it has been on the news..:help:
A controversial race relations campaigner has called for the creation of "black schools" to "stem the avalanche of educational failure and the descent into violent gang culture".
Lee Jasper, who advised former London Mayor on equalities, said it was time the black community ran its own schools, with black teachers and black governors.
He said black schools and colleges could prove to be a "beacon of excellence" for the black community.:cnfs: if we did try to have all white schools in the uk we would be locked up

I think it is highly dubious and based on pretty narrow minded and short sighted attitudes towards race and education in London but...in principle it is no different to single sex/religion schools really.
As long as the curriculum is consistent with an integrated and balanced education why not.

So how do you determine black ? I mean you are either male or female for single sex schools, but what makes you so different in terms of your colour that makes you eligible ?

I`m not so sure on this one folks.

Is it not the same as having segregation based on religion?

Does a white guy really understand the question?

I would say black = people of colour-another hateful term.

If we are to believe the tabloid news most of the London schools are black anyway.

I really and truly don't care what colour a person is, although as a devilishly handsome white man I have no experience of the flip side.

Also if you watch the BBC News you will form the same opinion, likewise most people interviewed in the street.
And most BBC jounalists seem to be of foreign extraction, if only by name.:cnfs:

When I went to school there was enough rivalry and petty fighting between schools as it was (even though everyone hated school, kids of similar age from a different school better not stray into another school's turf and all that ****). We were all the same really, apart from the school we went to. The school up the road that was technically a catholic school got all the more flak, just because it stood out as different, being catholic. So unless teenagers mentally has drastically improved since I went to school, making a whole school stand out from others by having such personal criteria as skin tone is not really going to get the kids to think they are just the same as each other.

It`s not segregation, it`s apartheid, and totally wrong in Britain.

I guessed the guy suggesting it was trying to say it would be best for black children. I'd hate to think he was suggesting apartheid or segregation - I wouldn't say keep an open mind to that.
