I'm just wonder what my Caltha Palustris should look like right now. I'm a bit concerned because I had a terrible blanket weed problem in the pond and the remains of it is still hanging on around the plants, which can't be good for light getting through.

My Caltha sits on a shelf in the pond, it's not in a bog area, so it got iced in over that cold snap. At the moment it has about 7 really small fresh green leaves about 5mm up and across. Is that normal? Or should it be a bit more lush by now, considering it's supposed to flower in March.

Have you got one? How is it looking?

    Ta in advance.

    Jo :)

Hi Jo mine looks just the same as yours its just sprouting new leaves, lost my really big one a few years ago it fell off the shelf of the pond down to the depths and as the ponds nearly 8ft deep in the middle wasn't going in after it :heehee:, luckily it had seeded in another pot before it went, do you have the white one? thats pretty too.

Phew. Thanks everyone. Although you nearly had me there, Ziggy. For a minute I thought my plant had been done for by the blanket weed if yours was looking like that, then I got to the bottom of the post.

Mine must shoot up and flower in a months time then, Simbad. I'm only one county up from you so it can't be that much difference. I haven't got the white one. I would like it though. I just haven't got any room left in my pond for plants. Mine isn't a small lake (8' deep :thud:), mine's more of a slight puddle. :D
