I bought 3 camassia plants from local garden centre 3 weeks ago. One of them has never looked 'well' since I planted them. The tips of the leaves are now turning brown on two of them - whats the most likely cause

Well, they are bulbs, so even if it doesn't perform this year then there's a good chance it will survive to do its stuff next year. Mark the planting spot very carefully and don't remove any foliage.

If it's only the leaf tips and the plant seems OK otherwise then I wouldn't worry too much about it.
