hi all, this little plant always reminds me of tenerife as i brought a very small version home about 20 years ago it is easy to take cuttings from and i have quite a few 'backups' flowers all summer small 1" heads almost a weed in tenerife.
Anyone know what it is called. [flowers not good at moment]

The flower looks a bit like Portulaca, but I think most of them are annuals

You are right, Liz, it is a mesembryanthemum croceum. Once you gave me a starting point it was googleable. Iceplant Coppery Mesemb seems to be what it is. Lots of my plants have some holiday, outing or friend attached. thanks both, now the gardening folder has 1 less blank space.

Hi i noticed something very similar looking all over the cliffs on the cornish coast this summer...especially near a place called Mousehole. A full and huge carpet of them with awesome bright flowers......took a cutting which is growing very well in a pot. no idea as to name though!!

I'm not 100% sure, but I think those growing on the cliffs in Cornwall are "hottentot figs", Carpobrotus Edulis.
