Camelia ills

Why havent my Camelia buds opened. They are half open but die on the branches.
This is for a friend so any other info will have to be asked for, a little delay, thats all.

She lives in the Fen country, all flat and windy.

 

Thats probably the answer. Camelias do not like chill especially in the morning. So flowers that open into frost will drop, and buds that are windchilled will not open.

Ask your friend if she has a sheltered spot in the garden - not exposed to the morning sun, and not exposed north, north east, or easterly wind Try growing or moving them there.

 

Could be camelia blight.
The flowers dont open properly and go brown.
