    Hi All,

I've been spraying my roses with lots to make sure the stay pest free, and in the meantime my poor camelia is under attack!!!! The new, very green leaves seem to have tiny little black things on them - look a bit like eggs? But certainly the camelia is not happy with whichever bug it is!!! In addition to this, there seem to be loads of ants running around the infected areas. Does this mean its ants or something else?

I've tried to take photos but they just come out very blurry!

Thanks in advance for the help!!

    Sounds like black fly.

Any of the insect sprays will kill them

ok. So I can use any insect sprays then? No specific one needed? I did look at some pictures and it looked similar to blackfly but they didn't seem like bugs so I wasn't sure! cheers

I've just brought some ladybirds and a ladybird house - hopefully that will work :-)

Try spaying with Provado;). It's systemic so it kills anything attacking the plant without hurting bees and such. It's the only thing that has stopped scale insects on my cammellias. I've even got rid of my last remains of malathion which, before Provado, was the only effective remedy against them:)
