I have wanted a Cotinus Royal Purple Smoke Bush for a while, I’ve got quite a large space for it by the Shed with a sunny aspect or I can plant it in a part shade area of the garden, although if I buy a tall mature bush it would then get more Sun, both areas with a good level of moisture in the soil. Does anyone have any advice on this please ?

The leaf colour will be better in sun but it will still grow well in part shade, preferably sheltered from wind. A young shrub will establish quicker and need less attention than a mature one. I’d plant it where you can see it best from your house or sitting area.

Thank you, you have confirmed what I thought. It will go beside the shed and help disguise in time.

Yes is the short answer - they don't mind some shade at all.
Smaller shrubs always establish more easily than large ones. It'll take a few years to get going, but they eventually make quite large specimens.
The colour and leaf size is better if they're regularly pruned though, so you won't have that if you want it to help hide a shed. Being deciduous, it won't do that all year round either.
