Can anyone help???????

    :rolleyes: My friend has just inherited this plant. Not really sure if it is a cacti or a succulent... It doesn't have any nasty spines as far as I can see.. She calls it a Coral cacti, but have googled etc on that & come up with zilch.... :rolleyes: [​IMG] [​IMG] So any & all ideas gratefully received.... [​IMG] [​IMG] Here are a couple of photos....

    :D :D No Jazid, all serious... It does look a little ceramic like, but I assure you it is real... I have been googling the euphorbias, but there are so many... Have to dash now, but there is a similarity I agree...... Lets see if anyone else has any other ideas as well..... ;) :D Thanks for that though... [​IMG]

    I think it's a mutant from outer space - never seen anything like it. Does it flower?

    They have them in my local DIY store. They are two plants. A succulent grafted on to what looks like a cactus stem. I was not tempted to buy one.

    I'll have a look next time I go in. They probably have invented a silly name for it - Dinosaur Plant or some such nonsense.

I have looked at my photo again & I can see what you mean about it being grafted on, but we are quite taken by its looks & wanted to know whether it is going to do anything... I think the top part looks Euphorbia like but there are so many kinds (100s) I haven't found it yet. So any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks,,, [​IMG] [​IMG]

    Good morning everyone!

    You are all right.....it is a succulent, probably euphorbia. Its weird appearance is known as cristate (cristata), this happens when the growing point of the plant repeatedly divides, forming a continual line. It has to be grafted onto a taller cacti stem because if not the ends of the fan will push into the ground and start to rot. it hardly ever flowers. you can propogate by cuttings or grafting. I have one in my shop that is a year old and has grown by a 1/3 in that time..........sorry...........rambling! ;)

    Thankyou so much for that info. I shall have a google. I have to say that the more I look at the photo the more it "grows" on me... :rolleyes: Sorry..!!! In fact, I think I might even keep an eye out for one... !! Sure I can squeeze it in with the rest of my succulents..! [​IMG] :D Rambling..!! Who's rambling..?? [​IMG] :D

    I agree MF. Wasn't very taken by it at first, but like the undulatory:eyes: look of it, a bit like a kaleidascope......thats it! 2 long words to spell, i'm off!!! [​IMG]

    That's exactly it...!!! Thankyou so much... I had another site & had waded part way through, but gave up for now. I often go to Daves Garden, it is a super site I think, but didn't have the correct name when I went there, that's how I got the link to Euphorbias that I had... Great I shall mail my friend & send her the links too. [​IMG] I~ shall definately keep an eye out for one. I love the way they look ceramic...!!! Fascinating..!! :rolleyes: :D
