    Hi Guys,

Just been looking through some of your great photo's. I've seen a few hoverflies around this year, but mistoook them for wasps. What's the difference and can hoverflies sting like a wasp? Are htey agressive? I kept my distance from them, warned off by the yellow adn black!

    Cheers

    Fi

    [IMG] Hi fimonkey,
No hoverfly's don't sting, they do no harm that I know of, but are fascinating. You can tell they are a member of the fly family as they only have one set of wings, there are also many different kinds. [IMG]
 Wasps are just getting busy here now with all the ripening fruit around so look out for them

We have something in our paved drive which I think I have identified as Digger Wasps - they look similiar to wasps but harmless I have sat and watched them they like hover flies are good bugs. Digger Wasps eat vine weevils and slugs. Does anyone know anything about these wasps.
