Can I cut down centaurea silver feathers ?

    I think centaurea silver feathers is herbaceous, but the three plants are showing no signs yet of dying back. I want to plant tulip bulbs under them, ready for next spring and before November is out ... am I okay to cut centaurea down to the ground now ?

    You would probably be OK - but it seems a shame to cut them down if they are still enthusiastic! Could you sort of lift the foliage out of the way while you hastily shove a bulbs in underneath?

    Trouble is, they are big, quite blousey, but very prone to breaking off at the base !
