Can I keep it in it's container?

Earlier this year, in order to brighten up a dark corner, I bought what was described as a 'half-standard' rose (the label merely says 'Yellow') in what I believe is a 3L pot. Sadly, it doesn't seem to have any fragrance at all but, it's some way away from the house and was bought more for its colour than anything.

As the pot has to stand on concrete (outside my husband's workshop), I have a number of questions ...

Can I keep it in a pot?
    What size would be best?
How should I feed it? - The rather unhelpful label says 'Feed with dilute tomato feed', but fails to say how dilute or how often.

Any advice would be gratefully received. Thank you.

    Hi FidgetB
A Standard Rose is a stem or tree rose which is grafted at an approximate height of 80cm (Half-standard) or 100cm (Full Standard). If you want to put it in a container use John Innes No3.
You say in a dark corner a rose needs at least 6 hours of Sunlight,
The bigger the better as roses have deep roots(half barrel)Feed in March /Autumn.I would, wouldn't it when its flowering wait a while until the autumn and I would use a rose feed.:)

    Modern Standards (1m / 3 ft)
    Shrub Standards (1.1m / 3' 6")
    Weeping Standards (1.4m / 4'6")
    Half Standards (0.7m / 2' 6")

    Thank you wiseoldowl.

Perhaps I didn't explain myself very well - the corner gets plenty of sunshine but is dark because it comprises the wooden wall of the workshop on one side and a fence on t'other - an area that just needed something cheap and cheerful to brighten it up (and it was certainly cheap - £3.50 to be precise!).

I appreciate the suggestion of a half-barrel, but round here they're pretty expensive and I'm not sure this rose is really worth it - but I do like the idea of being able to move colour around so, at some point, I will treat myself to a decent (scented) rose and buy it something suitable to live in.

In the meantime I'll get some rose fertiliser.
