I am planning my planters for next year, which I want to fill with a profusion of colour from spring to late summer.

I have tulip bulbs to start off but want to know if I can layer summer flowering seeds over the top of them. The seeds I have are:

    Stocks

    Cosmea Rose Bonbon

    Linaria Fairy Bouquet
    [IMG]

    Linum Charmer

    Eschscholzia Bridal Bouquet

Which of these would be most suited to being planted over tulips please? Or would I be best planting the summer flowering seeds in a separate planter from the tulips?

    Thanks in advance :blue thumb:

Hi to be honest best to stick to the classic stuff like pansies polyanthus and forget me nots they all grow well together with spring bulbs .

The seeds you have mentioned I think all would rather be sown in the spring

I tend to swap pots and troughs about with the season

i sow & grow on annuals that i later plant in the tops of the same pots that my spring bulb are in, once the bulbs foliage has died down i take off the top few inchs of soil & plant my annuals with a top dressing of good fertile fresh compost...never had any problems & always get a good show
