    Hi!

I’ve noticed one of my Yew cones is really starting to grow. Can I prune now or should I wait until Sept time?

    many thanks,

    Ed

I tend to like the new growth on yew, is it a golden variety?

So I would leave it until later when it becomes greener and less interesting, I usually cut mine in late summer and then I can enjoy the new growth.
This is a prostrate variety, but I do the same with golden Irish yew.

You can prune any time from now until early autumn. If you want the cones to get larger leave them but if you want denser foliage you can prune up to three times over summer.

I have two trees, one appears to be growing better than the other. I may give them a prune later so that they stay roughly the same size/shape.
