Can I save my courgette plants?

Went away for 5 days and left hubby in charge of watering my courgettes. He did a grand job watering but must be blind as he can't see that slugs/snails have eaten all the leaves
Can I save them? How can I deter nibbles?

 

Hubby's don't notice things like that

They'll be fine if the growing points are still intact. Lift em up and check for snails, then put em up on something to keep em off
