So I've had this daphne for just over a year now. I'd planted it in a big container and left it outside until the end of autumn. It hadn't really grown at all but then i decided to check the roots as the container had stayed quite wet all year.

It had lots of fine rotted roots but still had spme of the thicker roots in a small root ball that were still white

I've put it in a really free draining mix in a small pot not but does it look like it's on it's last legs?

I doubt it likes being indoors. I would get it outside pronto, somewhere sheltered and give it a good watering, it looks to have dried out which is fatal for all Daphnes.

They also hate being moved or repotted into smaller containers. They really need to be planted straight away and left alone, they are quite temperamental.

I lost my years old Perfume Princess in December 2022 with 10 days of minus 8 maybe lower. All the other Daphnes survived so that particular variety is borderline hardy in the south, shame as its flowering period and scent were exceptional.
