I have four cucumber plants in the greenhouse which are getting quite tall and was wondering if it would be ok to stop them getting any taller by nipping the tops off and could I do the same with some melon plants

Yes you can stop cucs by nipping out the top, they will immediately start sending out new side shoots though. Just leave these to trail down and produce more fruit.

Melons, ahh, ziggy gave me a melon plant at shineys, I dont even like melons, but I like the chance to grow anything.
Not grown them for years, but I used to always stop them at 4 or 5 leaves, then stop the laterals again at about 3or 4 leaves, the resulting shoots should carry female flowers, and you need to pollinate.
I'm really prepared to be proven wrong here though;) as I never was great at growing them.

Ziggy's one is doing fine at the moment.

                      Oh come on @"M" .

You mash a few sweet spuds and put pastry round it, everyone knows how to make a pie.:stirpot:.

                      It sounds delicious.;)

Bit like pumpkin pie, but a bit more bland.
