We have a couple of Raspberry canes in the garden. They fruit late in the year and are excellent. They grow about 2m tall and are full of large, ripe berries. No idea of variety.
I know little about gardening but would like more of them. Is it possible to somehow take cuttings or do something with roots ???
We tried buying some canes two years ago from a local garden centre and they were a waste of money.
    Cheers
    Brian.

Hello Brian, it's more usually a case of stopping them from spreading! Give them lots of water, a good feed (preferably an ericaceous fertiliser), a mulch of manure or compost and watch them go!

I've managed to split raspberry roots with a spade, to get new plants each with some roots. They take a couple of years to get going and fruit. Best to get the new canes rather than ones that had fruited last season.

    Hi,

If your Rasps are growing well you may notice new shoots coming up and some will be 30cm+ away from the main body.
These are suckers which once growing up can be carefully cut the runner /stolon and plant it up new soil or a pot, you need to give it plenty of water and shelter for a few weeks as they will look rather sad for until their own roots fully take over.

Thanks all, that is so encouraging. I will certainly give it a go.
      Cheers
      Brian.

Feed, water and mulch now. You should have new canes/suckers to divide next spring.
