OK I know the answer may be in the Title "spring"

I just can not get my head around the fact, to grow some tiny onions the thickness of your little finger you need to have them planted from SEP to MAY ?

I expected them to be like a salad dish radish, lettuce, plant and reap in a short period
Is this not the case, mine are Ishkiea or something like that name

:) Hi Jack,I think this is a case of "knowing your onions"
We traditionally sew spring onions successionaly from early spring onwards, eat them young and fresh or let them age a bit and boy are they strong......I think they are one of natures finest antibiotics.....a superfood......White Lisbon do it for me :).

Its because they grow slower over the winter Jack. I've grown them quicker over the summer, but as the blubbing onions are ready now, i'm letting the spring onions blub up too.

              Sorry a bit thick, understanding
I have both ishkia and Lisburn

Are you saying that I could plant like a salad crop in the summer, plant MAY harvest late JUNE type of thing and fortnightly plant

Then it is only from October you plant and wait six months to grow

BUMMER I got them in May read the packet and put them away waiting for winter, result raddishes, lettuce, then buy spring onions from South Africa for the salad lunch :cry3:
