Do I have to join a group to send photos and what is the advantage? Can I not send them straight from my computer? My friend who is used to sending photos to EBay etc cant see why I have to join a group. Could someone explain to this newcomer to digital photo as well as computing what is the easiest way to do this. Many Thanks

Hello Jean. The difference between eBay and GC is basically that eBay is worth billions and GC is run by dedicated amateurs. EBay can afford huge servers GC can't. But fortunately there are sites you can use for storing and accessing photos. The best of these is Photobucket. You have to open an account with them using your email address, but don't worry they don't bombard you with spam. The instructions for posting on GC are here:-

Oh and don't worry, once you are registered with Photobucket you don't have to keep registering. It's also useful for putting photos on for friends and relatives to see. :D

There are also good "How to" posts in here and in the "How to" forum at the bottom of the home page.

Here's the quick link How to post a picture

Oh, and btw, though the site is run by 'dedicated amateurs' (thanks for the pats! [IMG] [IMG] ) it is paid for out of his own pocket by the Webmaster.

Yes Daisees. We assume that it is and I am sure everyone is very grateful to Webmaster. I'm surprised he doesn't put a 'donations' link on the site (all you need is a free Paypal account, which you may have anyway). I know that for the excellent service it renders, I would happily throw 50p or so in, I'm nothing if not generous. ;) :D I sincerely hope that no one here thinks that 'amateur' is synonymous with 'amateurish'. The competence of many of the members is the same, or sometimes even better, as that of the highest paid professionals. In fact many of them are professionals (but I doubt if they get Mr. Titchmarshes salary). They (unlike eBay) however don't get paid for this. And thus in this role they are amateurs. [IMG]
