Can you remember the name of this TV show?

It was a cop show, a sort of cross between Hill Street Blues and Taxi. A comedy sit-com, �½ hr long.

There was this quite small 'cop shop' office with about 4 or 5 desks and a single cell at the back of the set with iron railings so the 'villains' could interact with the rest of the cast. The cast of cops was about half a dozen misfits one of which would turn up in really garish, 60s style threads, determindely denying he was gay! Another suffered terminal depression - and so on!

It's been bugging me that I can't remember the name of it or of the chief (character or actor) who was quite well known. It was of the same date as "Married With Children" and "Rosanne", I think.

Can anyone help me out? Please!??!

 

Do you mean the one with Rowan Atkinson? Think it was called something like "Thin Blue line"

 

Doesn't sound the same, HB - can't imagine anyone not remembering Rowan Atkinson beig in it! Is it an American one, MMD?

Anything on here ring a bell? The only one I could think oif was dragnet - but doubt if it was that. Then there was a Leslie Nielsen one - was that Police Academy? Not sure........

The Leslie Nielsen one was the one where there was a supposed freeze-frame at the end, but things kept happening, like coffe pouring out of the tilted cup, or a prisoner taking keys out of a cop's pocket, etc, etc etc....

 

Oh yes, should have said, it was an obscure US output. Didn't get much of an airing - usually around 1130 at night. And it was back in the 80s or even earlier.

Police Squad .... mmmm. Not sure about that. Definitely not Leslie Neilson. They weren't film actors, any of them.
