Help, someone !!! Could be you, BM, with the answer here, but ..

about March-time we got three canes from a friend's property which borders onto a stream, to use as tall climbing posts. They were cut down fresh then and there about 10 feet tall. Just noticed this evening that the one of the two canes that the pink passion flower is climbing up has shot up lovely leaves about 12 inches tall from the base. This is all well and good, but this is a small rectangular concrete pot with the pink passion and a trailing geranium growing in it !!! :D :D Should I strip off the new growing bits, which is a shame as I have a wall painting there and the "grass effect" would be wonderful or should I somehow try to take this 10 feet cane out of the climbing pink passion? Dilemna :( :(

    Help !!!

I would try to take the cane out of the climbing pink passion. If left to grow it would compromise the other plants in the pot. You would unlikely kill it back to just a cane for growing up. The passion flowers that I have grown are quite vigorous so its not going to take long to get back what you had worse case scenario.

If these are new shoots from the roots rather than the canes I would cut the rooted cane very low down and dig out the root ball, then shuffle the remainder of the cane back down into the soil.

Good idea, BM. Now that we think of it, green canes were probably not the best things to use ... freebies :D :D We'll check out the situation tomorrow. Muitas obrigadinhas!
