    Just over a week ago I ordered some Canna seed from an American supplier through Ebay; I ordered C.musafolia, C.glauca and C.russian red. The seeds arrived today in excellent healthy looking condition, between 10 and 12 seeds of each variety, wrapped in bubble wrap and with detailed instructions on getting them germinate. Also got postage discount for multiple order and they are reasonably priced too :thumb:

    The suppliers are Dave Karchesky and Alice Harris;

    I know before anyone says I've got far too many Canna varieties :D:D:D, I just love them, 7 to grow this year now :thumb:

        The Canna seeds I've got are lying in the Fridge ready for sowing, I can't wait.!!:D:happydance::D My Musa Grande I bought in rhizome form so hopefully I'll get a good show for the very first time this year.

        I've bought 3 varieties of Musa seeds from Jungle Seeds, and to be honest I'm a bit worried about one of the varieties, M. Coccinea, because when I put the seeds in water they all floated...........which to me is not good. I've contacted Jungle Seeds and told them about it and they have replied that they're carrying out their own tests on the batch. We'll see, I guess, anyway they're sown and in a heated propagator.:WINK1:

        I had no idea that Canna could bloom in their first year from seed.
        Thanks for the links!

        Hi Spruce, I assume they cut a bottle in half pop some compost in the bottom half and then sow the seed, water and put the top back on creating a mini greenhouse; also I'd assume they put drainage holes in the bottom as they mention putting them in saucers of water :thumb:

        Bilbo - thanks for an excellent link. I am sorely tempted. However they do take up a lot of room. :D

        I am growing some more Canna tuerckheimii (From Jungle Seeds) as I was so pleased with them last year. However I am also hoping that last year's ones will come back and be even bigger in the second year. - well that's filled my garden. :heehee:

        I ordered some Canna and Brugmansia seeds yesterday from the same ebay seller in the US. Just had an email saying they are on their way, thanks for the heads up Bilbo.

            Five days is excellent delivery John. I have been ordering seeds from the USA for a few years on Ebay, it usually takes around 10 days. I am not to sure on the laws on buying seeds from abroad :scratch: The photo you took of the seeds - to a HM Customs man , the question would be are you going to plant them or smoke them :D
