I think I might be captain scarlet with amnesia.

A few months ago I had a little accident involving a tree, a saw and some ladders (got knocked off the ladder and landed on the saw). Had to nip to the hospital to get all sorts of debris removed from right inside my finger, and got the finger dressed up nicely. I removed the dressing a few days later to see no sign of injury.

Tonight, while building a toy garage out of wood for the lad, I managed to rip my thumb wide open. This was a couple of hours ago. It wasn't horrendous but a small amount of blood did go airborne, and I now have a gash on my thumb about half an inch long. Wife asked if it was sore, so I had a look. As its only been 2 hours, I can see a hint that something happened there, but the skin is all fused up nicely.

I made a joke to wife about me being captain scarlet. She didn't know what I was on about, so I googled him. He looks like me:heehee: Or like I used to look about 10 years ago, before I grew a beer belly and a beard:heehee:

Warning: graphic description of nasty accident coming up :o

I used to think the same as you clueless, hitting thumbs with hammers and getting cuts from saws and electric shocks working on live circuits all the time gave me a bit of a sense of indestructibility. Until 3 years ago when I had a proper accident with an angle grinder, I was cutting through a brick wall with a diamond cutter and it kicked back and zipped through my wrist in an instant. It made a nice clean cut 3/4 through my ulna, and came within an inch of cutting off my hand. It's made me think twice about using power tools and now I read all the safety leaflets and try and think about risks before a job :o

OK I've still got the amnesia! I just managed to drill through an electric cable embedded in the wall, putting up some lights. At least I had the circuit off, I just couldn't figure why one wall light wouldn't work this morning. Now I've got to dig the cable out and pull another one through. So stupid as I spent yesterday pm filling and painting and after that other thread about using a detector, I assumed the cable ran vertically silly me.

^^^ Exactly. If a trip to Casualty isn't involved then you've done something wrong.
