Many of the flowers in my pot of carnations have suddenly gone brown and shrivelled up all
in course of a couple of days.
Is this normal for a carnation or is it caused by a pest or desease.
Thanking you kindly for any help.

They just look like finished flower heads to me. Pick/cut them all off and you might get more. My dianthus out the front do that every year about now, and because there are so many of them, picking them off individually would take ages, so I tend to just trim the tops off the all the plants. Obviously not all the way down, just below the height of the flower heads.
