Hi folks. The mrs (bless her :) ) decided that she'd like to propagate some carnations by taking the tips out of some that she bought, which have since rooted and showing signs of growth. My question is, are these worth bothering with ? If they ARE worth bothering with, what should I do to look after them ? Cheers...freddy.

Pot them up, Freddy, and grow them on in the greenhouse until next spring. Then you can put them in the ground.:thumb:

Thanks Dai. Does that mean they are a half-hardy perennial ? I seem to remember growing Dianthus in the past (are they the same?) which I just left out. Cheers...freddy.

Dianthus is the family name for Dianthus, Carnations and Pinks. And you are right, they are hardy, but I would say, it is better to overwinter the CUTTINGS in the greenhouse to turn them into decent PLANTS.:thumb::D
