I think Pinguicula and byblis would be good for whitefly,
Sarracenia and Dionaea can be grown in a greenhouse as a half hardy perennial so thay can go dormant but not get too cold, you dont want them to go below
-10c for more than 2 or 3 days,

Pinguicula, drosera and byblis can be grown in a house all year no colder than 5c, Pinguicula, drosera are perennial and dont go dormant and byblis is an annual,

You sometimes need to stratify the seeds in the fridge to break the seeds dormancy,

Looking good Robert. I've had a couple of the Venus Fly traps when my kids were younger, and they lasted a couple of years. I think we grew some from seed, they are very interesting plants. I love the 'killer plants' section in the greenhouse at Kew.

They would have to work blinking hard in my greenhouse :(

Nice plants Robert, I've grown a few Sarracenias and the good old Venus Flytrap over the years, had a Pinguicula some years ago.
Are you thinking of growing any Nepenthes?
Need a bit more heat I guess.

    Nice photos BTW:thmb:

Very nice looking plants. I'm tempted by a Venus Flytrap, but I know they need a bit more attention than most houseplants.

I have a fair few sundews that i regard as "working plants" they do a great job in the greenhouse in summer. I also have fly traps and saracenias. I plan to put together a little bog garden in an old sink in spring.

How long ago did you sow them?

Not grown them from seed myself, but guessing they would need heat an humidity to germinate.

I fancy having some venus flytraps, would like them in pots so I can move them outside to the edge of the pond I'm making soon, and would come in handy with some for inside the greenhouse :)
