    After much deliberation, will I, won't I, I finally took the plunge...

and shampooed clean the carpets throughout the bungalow.

Could believe how much dirty water came through, kitchen is always worst.:eeew:

Keep telling OH and Fred the dog to clean their shoes/feet before they come in from the garden, can't be me, I wear indoor/outdoor shoes.

I do it 4 times a year,(wash the carpets) I feel better after its done. :yay::yahoo:

If you were a modern type Liliana you would have Laminate Flooring.
Apart from the house feeling a hell of a lot colder, you'd need to wash the floor nearly every day (well, sponge over)
When Grandson comes round he always comments on how nice and warm it is.
It upsets DIL. She's starting to come round though. Apparently she's thinking about a large rug for the Lounge now.:dancy: Result!

I dread to *think* what colour the water will be when I clean the carpets since we've had Ozzy (+ a very wet Autumn!)

I'll wait a bit before I rush to find out, I think ;)

I did ours last weekend, and they look like they need done again already thanks to the saturated ground and the dog not knowing how to wipe his feet.

Mind you, it beats me why landlords fit light coloured carpets to houses that they are going to rent out.

Precisely, we rent our bungalow, and sitting/bedrooms,are beige. :oopss:
Kitchen : flipping kitchen carpeting, would much have preferred some type of lino, easier to clean.
      Toilet/bathroom carpeted..not ideal.:phew:

Try to keep it clean, as when/if we do move, contract stipulates deep/sanitizing clean will have to be done by professional company. :pathd:

I think its a bit of a con to be honest, to ensure that they don't have to pay some or all of the deposit back - I mean, realistically who can live in a house for years with a beige carpet and have it looking as good when the leave as it did when they moved in?

I had just written the same reply FC only you beat me to it

They will keep the deposit no matter what, they have some excuse

A neighbour I was on speaking terms with, was not the best gardener in the world
(Well he let me pour weedkiller along the side of the fence) but they were in rented
        (Buy to let)
The weeks before they left, he made a big effort on the remains of the garden cut the grass and weeks short, bought plants and put in the border, then left
Eight weeks later the property was re-let and the letting agent seeing the two foot high garden again, went off on how they would not get the deposit back

The day before the new tennants arrived, a garden company arrived, and cut the weeds down to 1" high as a new lawn :-)
The new tennant is not a gardener, just breeds kids and rotweilers that run free amongst the weeds and use my garden as the toilet (YES THE KIDS TOO)
