carrot feed.

Hi, can any one tell me the best thing to feed carrots , cant seem to get any info. thanks. su

 

I'll start by saying I genuinely don't know, however...
I've been using Westlands organic plant feed once a week on my potatoes in the last 2 weeks, it says on the pack it's suitable for increasing yield and size on most types of vegetable crops (and it includes carrots in that list) but I'm very new to vegetables and I'm experimenting as I go.
I'd be interested to read the thoughts of experienced gardeners.

 

Apparantly not watering carrots too much helps them grow longer by forcing them to grow deeper searching for water instead of just taking it from the surface.

 

Being a root crop a handful or two of bone meal will benefit them. I add alfalfa meal and bone meal to the soil before seeding. I'm no pro either so other's might have better info.

Excess water also encourages them to make Tops rather than Roots
