carrot problems

    hi just been to the allotment and have noticed that my carrots that are about 6-8 inches tall all the leaves have been eaten !!! a lot of us have had a hard problem trying to grow carrots this year as soon as the seedlings appear they are getting eaten but surley at 6 or so inches tall they should be fine have used loads of slug pellets this year but still carrots are disappearing faster than we can sow them any ideas? what is causing this please besides slugs

    Probably not related to the Carrot eating problem :sad: but slug pellets need to be used sparingly (one every 4" or something like that) otherwise they don't work (they repel the slugs which then attack other plants, rather than attracting them to the bait)

    I think you might have a rabbit problem. With 6 - 8" high carots slugs would eat through the stems leaving bitten off chunks of leaf on the ground, or nibble some leaf off a stem, but rabbits scoff the lot, starting at the top and working down.
